How many bacon missions do I have to do before I get the bacon badge? Do I need to make my own bacon mission?

Anything, please, just keep the bacon flowing.

Thank you.

More thoughtfully: What if missions could be "acquainted" like players. That is, maybe the maker of one mission invites another mission to become an ally or acquaintance? Or perhaps this is suggested by other players? If a number of missions (5? 10?) were matched like this, then they might generate their own badge.

Just a thought.

I'm not sure we can have a Bacon Badge without redesigning the Shoat avatar; it perhaps wouldn't convey quite the right atmosphere to our n00bs.

I would like the Bacon Badge to be made of Shoats who abandoned their accounts...

Actually among many cultures cannibalism or the ritualistic consumption of dead kin is a perfectly acceptable practice. I think that by participating in bacon missions Shoats would be symbolically consuming their old selves in effigy and becoming accepted members of the pmog community!

And also, I think there is an obvious choice for the image on any Bacon Badge

@snocrsh I think that is a totally appropriate graphic. Perhaps just the second bit, so that it fits in the standard Badge format?

@snocrsh someone had written that on the instructions for the hand-dryer thing in the washroom at university, and I noticed it for the first time the other day and thought fondly of PMOG... :)

@snocrsh, your avatar's licking of its chops at the thought of receiving bacon is too fitting for mere words to express.

*waves around her fresh pan of bacon*

I love this idea completely! Bacon is a favorite of many of us on PMOG and I think a bacon badge would be appropriate with all the bacon missions out there.

Nice idea.

I think I'm just digging on the idea of a few Player-created Badges; the wallpapers are already of a really high artistic quality. Perhaps if came up with the criteria for the Bacon Badge? Hmmm...I guess I just don't want the site littered with crappy Bacon missions the way that it is littered with crappy missions made 'just to level up.'

This is why it might be smart to have the individual creators of each mission agree to be part of a "badge group", or be invited by someone (perhaps a high level pathfinder) to be part of the badge. It would be good for community, and keep people from just throwing in low quality missions.

I'm going for the T-shirt badge now...

@mzed Not just a high-level Pathmaker. I think you'll find at the upper levels most of the players do not want to be Pathmakers...
There are more Vigilantes and Benefactors after level 5 than under...

I think it's hard to be a pathmaker at a high level because at that point you've already lighted up all of your "favorite" websites. Curating the existing cache of missions might be a way to make that association have more to do at that point, and make it more worthwhile to level up.

@mzed Well...not really, not at all. It has more to do with what type of missions you take, not the ones that you make. I don't put any of my favorite sites in missions, as I just don't see the reason. No one wants to see what I like to read in the morning with my cup of tea. Not being a Pathmaker is a conscious choice--I make sure that I don't take their missions, and I monitor my lightpost usage.
But when I want to make a mission, I don't have a random list of posts--I keep all my missions in text files so that I don't have to go through a huge list to make a mission.
I just place the posts in the blank field--it's much faster.
And like most of those who make fairly popular missions, I use varied content that I located through search or through committee on IRC--not things that I routinely read for information or for gameplay.
I'm not trying to be snippy, but there just seems to be a lot of confusion about how one becomes a 'successful' player.
