I was actually trying the same thing today. I've managed to reach the place where I can create a dead-end and the only way the player can escape it is follow the correct link and then follow the portal there. Unfortunately I can't really test it well since the portal stops working for me after I've used it once (and it's also expensive) Let me know if you're interested and I'll explain. Still, we need better tools for mission building :-/ |

To my knowledge, you can't, not really--several players have used tinyurls to create loops that remain until you solve for the next site. http://pmog.com/missions/best_re...
Btw, all of these were found by using the search function on the Missions page for 'Puzzle.' |

I was wondering about this yesterday, and am playing around with a substitute solution right now. Maybe other people have already done this, of course, but I was thinking that although you can't get actual "mission" DP for it, you can capture the feeling of a mission by creating a chain of portals. Each of the portal descriptions could contain a clue about where on the landing page to click to find the page with the next portal and the next clue. If it seems cool enough to share when I'm done, I'll turn the first pages of the chains into their own mission-- "Here's the start of the first chain, take the portal if you want to play, or skip on to the next chain if you don't.", etc. If anyone has ideas about how to make this better, or knows of some portal chains like this that are already around, I'd love to hear about 'em! Happy travels, everyone. |
