ok, so I finally read the FAQ and figured out what goes on with the classes, but now I'm confused again because my secondary association is pathmaker but I've never used a lightpost, ever. *drool*

Have you done much apart from leave crates??

A pathmaker is quite passive, so as Benefactor is your top, I assume you have been leaving crates, if you havent laid mines or nicks etc that could explain why you have got Pathmaker as one of them.

Thats my thinking anyay.

I figured it out. I just found the post that says that associations are mainly from quests (which is dumb, I'd guess the majority of quests are by pathmakers, and I don't want to be a pathmaker)

That's old

The game has been revised since... mission taking has no effect on association.

Don't worry Londonbrigo, your association changes very easily. Just keep playing the game using the tools you currently enjoy, it really does not take much to swap your association :)

Something I have so far neglected to put in the FAQ is that you earn partial class-points for similar tools. So if you use a crate, you get one benefactor class point, but you also get 1/2 a pathmaker point and 1/2 a bedoin point because they are aligned with order.

I'm not 100% sure if that's how it works, but that seems to be the case... confirmation from someone would be wonderful.

And it's true, missions no longer play any role whatsoever in determining your association.

@orangerineman I don't know that that's true. Or if it is, I don't think it's a half point for the related classes. I lay crates everyday, usually around 10 or so, sometimes a lot more. Once a week or so I'll go scatter some mines somewhere. Only one day in the past 30 or more has Bedouin shown up as one of my 3 associations, and the only time in that period that Pathmaker showed up was when I made a couple of new missions in one week.

Yeah, I thought Merci had mentioned it in one of the threads about association mechanics, but I don't think it was clear if it was a suggestion or not, and in any case how it does/would work wasn't clear either.

I think Pixielo might know... she usually has this stuff figured out and I consider her the resident association expert. I think Chetyre has some info on the issue too.

Pixielo knows all. I've run tests.
I don't know, I lay mines, and I lay crates. My two top assoc. are always destroyer and benefactor. But it tends to prefer to be one of the chaotic thirds, Despite only ever having laid two portals and used 16 St. nicks in my entire career. Of course that doesn't mean much since I've never used even one armor. But I have made missions.
All in all My info doesn't help even a little.. but at least I tried.
