Ummmm, is there like a page or SOMETHING that explains how to play? I tried the tutorial, but it appeared to be only one page and just explained what items I could buy. There seems to be a lot of explanation, but nothing on how to actually play. SIGH |

I do find it a little frustrating that all of the info in the Codex is "in-game" when some nice straightforward mechanics would be more helpful. Here's how to play, basically. Browse the web like you normally do. Each new top-level domain gives you 2 Datapoints per day. The "game" of PMOG is really more of a meta-game. The idea is to turn the real world wide web into a game. You can use datapoints to buy items. Items do various things, most of which don't directly earn you points. Each item has an association attached to it. Using items makes you more likely to become that association. You can have 3 associations at once, and they will change all the time. Once you reach level 5, you will only be able to buy items from your association. You can also take missions. Missions push you towards being the association of the person who made the mission you took. Missions send you to new domains and thus earn you DP. You might also learn something on the real web.
Here is a mission I made about PMOG, most missions are about other sites on the web
You can create missions. To do this you need to buy lightposts. There is a mission that tells you how to create missions.
There are badges. The badges page explains how to earn each badge.
But basically, you play by just being on the web like normal, only now you get points for it, and you might encounter some nice or some nasty surprises. |

Yea, I was actually wondering the same thing when I joined a few days ago. Do setting mines, missions, portals, and crates produce datapoints? How many datapoints do inviting people give you? Do people taking your missions give you datapoints? If so, how much? I think they should include a FAQ with this site, perhaps within the Codex. It should include all the various ways to earn datapoints. |

Thanks for the info scarybug. I think part of the problem was that my datapoint total wasn't changing - I suspect there was something going on with PMOG in general on the server side, hence I wasn't seeing updates. I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I agree with most of the comments I have read concerning gameplay - there should be a more detailed section explaining the mechanics of the game, although it's really only a game if you actively take part, otherwise, what's the point? So, I think they are onto something with "passive play" however I don't know if this is it. It's close, but I don't think it's quite there yet. |

But after you take on a mission, what do you do from there. I've taken the quest you have made in your post, yet i dont recieve credit for doing it. Am i doing something wrong? Once accepting the mission by clicking on the take the mission dude in front of the portal it takes to to "X" website, but from there im absolutely lost. |

There should be a post like this stickied in the forums specifically for new users. It took me a while figuring out the game too until I took a couple of Merci's tutorials. |
