I have an idea for an item called the Billboard. Here is how it works.

-You buy it (dur)

-Set it down on any website

-Put any message on it you wish. (Ex: Come visit my website at:http://dfhjklshfkjsdhf.com/ or Video Game sale at Gamestop today!)

-People who come to the website see the message in the bottom right (A read more link will be provided if too much text is on the little box).

-Billboard goes away after a 12 or 24 hour period.

Good idea? Bad Idea?

I think that's a great idea! This could belong to the worker association or something...

I like it...seems basically like a light post that you can see outside of a mission. Then again, I think this would be a cool item for any faction to have. The more limited items there are the harder it'd be for people to choose just three methinks.

Could be a general item, meaning every player can get it.

We've talked about having an item like that before. Someone suggested they be posted bills like from industrial-revolution era england to tie in with the sort of steampunk theme of pmog. I think it would be really cool. I would use it on a top level domain to say that there's a crate buried somewhere here.

You'd also have to have an item to remove the bills, to keep spam to a minimum.

Seems kind of like a portal =\

But if it was for more than just advertising websites, then it sounds like a great idea :D I think they should just change the Portal item though, like give it two options. One would be using it to link people to another page (like it is now) and the other would be the suggestion you're giving.

It's a neat idea but seems that the present PMOG notifications on portals & missions already do that well enough themselves. A billboard provides opportunity for different graffiti but considering its nature could easily turn the Internet back into what it was before everyone & their mother had popup blockers installed.

I agree that a simple flag tool might seem like a move toward advertising, but perhaps the tool could be limited so that only ones allies could see such flags/annotations/broadsides. That would eliminate the spam motive and give some functionality to the "allies" list.

To add on, you could have a "Hide Billboard" option to make it like they never even came. The way it would be different from a portal is that every player can get them (Seeing as once you hit level 5, you have to be a certain player class in order to use a portal). Portals crash my browser anyways.
