As I understand it they are defined by the number of people who took them. That list will forever be the same :) Since they are listed as most popular, more and more people will be drawn to them, making them even more popular.

My suggestion would be to sort them according to the rating they receive instead. To avoid random new missions which get one 5 star rating popping up on top, they could require a least of 10 or 20 people's ratings to be included in the list in the first place.

Most popular? Do you mean "Highest-Rated Missions"?
Also, I don't know how they programed it, but I'm guessing this is how it works: Its a total count of the stars. So like if theres a mission that 1 person rated 5 stars, it has a total count of 5. It would never make it on to the list with some missions being rated hundreds of times, regardless of the rating.
My reasoning behind this is that the mission The 7 Most Useful Websites by tulsatrey has an average of 3 stars yet more users than my mission, A True Wikipedian with an average of 4 stars and less users.

I hope that makes sense, and I hope what I said was true, I'm not even sure lol

IMO, more importantly, I think that merci's pmog missions should not be allowed in the Highest Rated Missions category. They already have their own category! No offense merci.

I agree, Wired. Those 'Tutorial' missions should not be highlighted elsewhere.

A "Community highlight" section would be pretty cool. User-created missions chosen by the developers, or something similar.

That's a great idea! I love it.

Ah, that sort of system works equally fine and explains why the things are the way they are.

And I agree on the tutorial missions :)
