Hi, if you came here via a portal, you must have solved the Mystery Machine puzzle mission. If you are just browsing the forums, you may not want to read any farther before taking the mission (start here instead: http://pmog.com/missions/the_mys...>

For those who took the mission, did you like it? Was it too challenging, or not challenging enough? Let me know so I can figure out what to do for future puzzle missions!

Hola @rossurns!

I enjoyed your quest quite a bit, especial all the paranormal theory reading materials!

The questions were pretty easy to answer without reading the text though. There was only one question that I couldn't find the answer to on the actual page (the moir one I believe). It would be interesting to have puzzles that required a more deeper analysis of the text. This puzzle could mostly be solved just by searching for one of the key words from the clue on the page, which isn't so tricky.

I'm not saying this wasn't fun though! I'm glad to see you pushing the boundaries of pmogosphere, and I hope you continue to do so! A Hearty THANK YOU SIR.

Good mission. The lamppost-portal combos may be a problem as portals have limited duration. I like the idea of passwording across missions but at eight clues that could have been one mission and rated a bit higher for me. Hope to see more of these.

@marrrrck: Thanks for the feedback - I figured on this first puzzle of mine, I'd make it relatively simple to find the answers and see how that sat with people. The next one will involve more research and/or problem solving skills. Thanks for the feedback, crate's on its way to you!

@gopal: Thanks for the feedback. I did save off my URLs for all the portals to a text file, so if I see that ~40-50 people have taken the mission and they disappear, I'll re-set them. I'll try to include everything in one mission next time, too :-)

Good planning, nice, easy puzzle. But I like how this mission actually makes you pay (very little) attention to what you're looking at to finish it.

I messed one up, but you can also make missions where you send people to a text box that they have to write in the answer for. Technically (I don't have the brainpower for it) you could do branching missions this way. Or just leave portals on various answer choices that lead around. Who says you have to do a "mission" to go on an adventure around the web? The portals then would disappear over time so you wouldn't have to worry about having to replenish the reward. A few ideas.

@steampunker: That portal hopping "mission" is a neat idea. I had considered something like it, where there would be a couple portals in between legs of lightposts, but having it be an alternative to a mission is a neat idea, too. I'll have to think about doing that - the hard part would be publicizing it - if it wasn't a mission, it wouldn't be listed on the mission page, so it would end up being something people would just discover instead (which in itself is not bad, it just wouldn't have the same impact in the small PMOG community that it would in a larger population).

Loved the mission (didn't get the crate, but nevermind).

The reading material selected was interesting (always useful), and although you could have searched for terms in the questions to find most of the answers, the temptation to do so was small because I did actually want to read the text.

I'm looking forward to your next mission. Making things a little more challenging would make it even better. :)

I liked it. It wasn't the toughest of puzzles, but not everyone is Sherlock Holmes either. Good work!

That was fun. Strange that it's split across two missions but definitely enjoyable. Interesting reading material too. Didn't find a crate though. Will email. Thanks!

Fun mission :) Thanks for the enjoyment. Not entirely sure why it was in two parts or if that was necessary, but it worked out well enough.

Yeah, one of the more interactive missions for sure. It would be nice if there was a little more to it than F3ing the page to find matches and possibly Googling searching for things not found on the page. Great start through, keep it up!

Excellent mission, although you may want to make it tougher if you're giving out prizes. Potentially stashing hundreds of crates at the end seems pretty expensive....
