PMOG is a very unique "game" experience and (understandably) difficult to convey to newbies.

But the Codex documentation is not helpful in explaining the *actual* play of the game. Instead of in-world game fiction, the Codex should (at least) include plain speak explanations of HOW players play, what things like mines and armor actually DO..

I'm still unclear why I would (say) take off my Armor. Or deploy a crate. Are crates "safehousing" one's datapoints on a web site, off their person? Why would I, as a player, want to create a portal or a mission?

A 1-2 paragraph overview on a single web page (instead of crawling throughout the Codex) that explained the game (in non-game fiction terms) would be helpful. Imagine what Wikipedia would say (or just wait for someone to create a PMOG Wikipedia page and copy it. :)

Also the codex does not seem to answer a few other questions like how many saint nicks can i attach, or is there a limit
or does mining people help you at all?
Or what happens when my armor uses its five limit capacity... is more armor automatically used?

@Grazny http://pmog.com/codex/appendices/ should explain a bit about that. You can take missions that were created by any profession to change your associate. Another less direct way is to use various items, each item is associated with a specific class...so for example if you use a lot of mines you'll become a destroyer.

I agree, there needs to be more detailed information about how stuff works. The help pages are written in language that is very vague.

That's part of the fun...figuring out how it works.

"Players who rank Bedouin as one of their top three associations can buy armor in the Shopppe. Otherwise, they can find the armor left in crates on websites, or on their profile."

I was able to purchase 1 armor today at the shoppe, at level 1 Shoat. Is this a bug?

Nope--up until level 5 you can buy anything in the shoppe. After level 5, you are limited to those Tools by association.

I agree that there is not enough info. 'The fun' for you, ken, might be learning what a lot of stuff does, but it's not often that you'll find many who have the same 'gambatte' attitude towards figuring things out. They prefer to be spoon-fed information and then to play the game, or spoon-fed information AS they play the game.

you have to either revenge them upon someone when you get mined or drop them directly onto someone's profile. My method of choice is to go to the events page, open up all of the most recent mine droppers in tabs, and St. Nick all of them.

I agree with coldspell completely. The PMOG codex is too vague to properly convey to new players what the heck is going on. I really didn't know what the game was about until I took several newbie missions. A walkthrough/FAQ with no in-game world speak would be much appreciated.

might be nice if at the very least someone here posted what the point of this "game" is. Do you just get points by taking missions? If not, is there a better way? What is the point of points, etc.

Frankly, I don't think this is worth my time. If I play WoW, I get instant gratification. I just killed a Large Boar, looted it, and saw my XP go up. As my XP goes up and I get more gold, I can buy and wear new armor and weapons. Here, I have no idea what is going on.

It is a passive game--no instant gratification except the joy you receive from a well-crafted mission! ;)
There is no point to the game...(at least I like to think of it that way!)
But seriously, it's a puzzle with which to interact. I just read all the pages in the codex before playing, that seems a simple enough tactic for playing any game.

I understand and enjoy the art of figuring things out in a game but at such an extreme point it becomes a great barrier of entry.
There is currently a small amount of beta testers and look how many questions get asked and how many get asked over and over. Wait until the game is opened up, we will see how people feel about game mystery then.

I know many people would like to say hell with the general public and people who are not willing to take the time to lean and explore the game but be realistic the game isn't going to pay for it self and will need a user to generate revenue to keep going.
