I know this question has been asked and addressed recently, but now I can't figure out where I saw it, so I'll just ask again. I want to make a puzzle mission, in which the next lamppost has to be found by clues, not just linked to directly in the mission. How do I break the chain? |

OK, never mind. I figured it out. So instead of looking for advice that I no longer need, I'll shamelessly plug: Here's my first mission! http://pmog.com/missions/puzzles... |

I'm wracking my brain on this one but can't even find the first book. Too hard? Or maybe I'm just too stupid. ;-) |

I found the first one but could *not* find the second. Can we message you, augustus, for hints? |

Certainly, I'll give hints. This really is a literature nerd mission. I'm working on a more general audience set now. To be honest, this one was kind of for me, just figuring things out and having fun writing riddles. |

I adore this mission! The first one was easy, the rest... not so much. Now I am at the last book and I have to say, I'm stumped. I fear I will never finish! |

Can you tell me how you made the mission? |

dawnzzle: Are you on the last rhyming riddle, or the short one made of the capitalized letters? cefeida: First I chose a couple of works that I wanted to include, and stuck lightposts on them, starting with the main page of Project Gutenberg. Then, I wrote the riddles, which was the hard part. Then I arranged the mission. After each step, in order to break the "next" button, so you can't just pop over to the answer, I took the URL for the current page (the last answer you came up with), and made a tinyURL out of it, and made that the next lightpost. This way, clicking the "next" button just enters you into a loop so you never go anywhere. But if you browse to the right page, it picks you up. Does that answer your question? |

I'm on the last puzzle made from the letters. Arg! Damn good mission! |

One possible problem: Only use the weird capitalized letters, not all the capitalized letters. If it's the beginning of a line or sentence, it doesn't count. Only iF it's In soMe strange spot. Otherwise you'll have a bunch of letters that make no sense. |

I suck at anagrams. |
cefeida![]() Level 20 Posts: 18 |
Yes, it does, augustus, thanks! I'll have to try it some day. I tried your mission- alas, I can't get past the first riddle. Queued it anyway...will try again. |

This mission is lovely and difficult. If you want to put your literary brain to work, I'd recommend it. Unfortunately, the "Complete Mission" button leads to an error, so Mr. Augustus isn't able to get credit for my having done the mission (yet), but I'll keep trying back to see if anything changes. And I thought I was sucky at anagrams, too -- til I asked for a hint after hacking away at it for a time, and then... well, boy, did I feel like an idiot. ;) -SN |

In that case I will keep hacking away at it for a bit longer before I ask for a hint! Damn, I wish work wouldn't get in the way! |
augustus![]() Level 5 Posts: 10 |
I'll give you half a hint: It's not an anagram. However...an anagram is a wonderful idea for a future puzzle... Moo hoo ha ha. *steepled fingers* |

yay!!!!! At long last! And it's all my own fault. I realized I had an extra letter in there! But, like cefeida, something went wrong and it won't let me officially complete the mission. I too, shall try again! |

Yeah, apparently a known issue with missions at the moment. On some of them you just have to go back to the final page a few times and hit complete until it actually completes it, for some reason. |

@augustus You need to make another puzzle mission soon. Your last one was way too much fun! |

ok I think I found the right 1st book but nothings happening I've gone all the way through it and no second clue. Does it matter how you find the book? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |
dawnzzle![]() Level 15 Posts: 197 |
Are you sure you have the right version of the book? The first book has a couple of versions, if you pick the right one, the next clue comes up. |

I'm having the same issue arboria is having. I found the first book but no mission box. I only saw one edition though. Are we supposed to click the limk to download it? |
strangenurse![]() Level 11 Posts: 2 |
I'm not the mission's author, but I did finish the mission. First, I think! I loved it. No, no need to download it. The correct book is available in more than one edition. I just checked it myself, and the second box does indeed still exist on the correct page. Keep trying! |

I got the first book (which is an excellent read BTW), but I'm stuck on the second. I've gone through everything relating to King Arthur, Shakespearean Kings, and the King James Bible, but I'm stuck. |
