I have argued this point before, but I believe it deserves revisiting. For an external marketplace to exist we Benefactors need a reliable method of determining the value of a crate before opening the crate. While opening a crate on your profile is obviously secure and private, it has the unfortunate side-effect of irreversibility. Allowing for some sort of value scale would help to create public marketplaces. To that effect I make this suggestion: If we are never to see the "crate peek" feature return, could we perhaps have a "crate weight" feature? While this may not guarantee contents, at least it will be an honest read of the crate without revealing too much. Tools weighted according to their Shoppe price would be optimal, however if the designer would like to leave a bit of work to it they could give items and DP their own arbitrary weights. By adding this feature or one like it, confidence in exchanges between unacquainted players will rise. This will get players talking to one another, helping to foster the community here. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated. |

The Week of Order was fantastic, whatever the naysayers claim. I'm sure there's some factor that must be accounted for to balance the crate usage numbers with the mine numbers from last week. It shouldn't be exactly a one-to-one comparison. Many of the crates we stashed were absolutely loaded with generosity totaling much more than the cost of a single mine. Regardless, I think it was a fun time for all. Too bad I was called out of town unexpectedly this weekend, and missed the final couple of days. :-( I'll try to stash as many crates as I can before midnight in my time zone tonight. Thanks to everyone who joined in, in one way or another. Thanks to the Orderlies for sharing so much (it was awesome continually reloading my profile to find new goodies each time)... thanks to the Omnitoolians for joining in, I swear we weren't really as exclusive as we sounded... and thanks even to the Chaots for providing some great friendly rivalry. Until next time! The torches of Chaos and Order still burn bright! EDIT: this was not my (sevenmacaw) original post, and it was not in http://pmog.com/forums/gameplay/... before |

Every other virtual economy has secure trading functionality. Usually it works like this:
In PMOG, it's more like "oh look, free stuff. kthxbi." I'd really like a safer way to trade. |

Could it be the forces of Chaos trying to mess things up during the last day of the week of order??? :) Probably just a software bug though |

A bug with a sense of humor. Mine is not the first post about robo-editing that got replaced with someone else's post! On the bright side, this is turning the PMOG forums into a William Burroughs-esque accidental cut-up experiment. I kind of like it. |
