What does everyone think of nsfw missions? Should players create missions linking to nsfw sites? |
tekkguy![]() Level 12 Posts: 316 |
Why not? They get flagged, they are marked, you don't have to take them, and you can even set your options to not show them to you at all. Why limit everyone else? If you don't want to see them, the system doesn't show you. What I WOULD like to see is the Allow NSFW option to be turned OFF by default, instead of turned ON by default. |

Yeah, I like that idea tekkguy. |

Yes, that is a good idea.

Notice that there is already a categories option? It's being worked on. :) |

I have no problem with NSFW missions or adult mission content. They can be labeled easily enough. What unnerves me is that there's a mission for Best Free Porn sites out there created by someone whose profile identifies them as 14. |

And you can you think of reasons why 14 yr old boys don't like pornorgraphy?

That's funny. Justin did an interview on an indie games podcast that I subscribe to, he mentioned 14 year olds creating NSFW content was one of the design surprised. I guess I hadn't noticed. |

NSFW often means porn, but it may also mean that the mission includes artworks or illustrations that might be difficult to explain out of context; a mission about H.R.Giger's or Hellnwein's paintings is NSFW, and so isn't a mission about sites containing pictures of skin diseases or war victims. PS: And yes, that's why I think NSFW missions should be allowed. |

Heh heh, also job hunting sites could be considered NSFW ;) |

Why can a players, with an age of 14, create and play missions that are nsfw? That does not sound right. |

No, it doesn't sound right--but I'm sure that it's going to happen.
And until the parents of real teenage boys can find away to keep them away from Internet porn--it's here to stay. |

Just curious, why 18? Most 16 year olds are pretty mature... |

I like that idea, just switch "Allow NSFW content" to default to "no". Then new users aren't going to stumble upon it. They have to edit their profile to get PMOG to show it. I don't think there is any point in trying to 'police' users by age when using PMOG. Anybody can say anything. I like that PMOG has a way to flag missions as NSFW. So to me it's the perfect system. |

@talkie_toaster In the U.S., where this game is hosted, it is illegal to provide any access to pornographic materials to those under the age of majority, e.g. 18 years old. Most sites even require that those who enter are 21 years of age. In order to comply perfectly with Federal regulations concerning porn and minors, age restrictions would have to be at 18. That is not a number I pulled out a hat. In the U.S., you can join the military, get married, buy cigarettes, and vote when you turn 18...

Pah, they may as well put a '18+' only warning on the front, that would stop maybe... 0.00001 % of kids signing up?

talkie_toaster![]() Level 9 Posts: 16 |
Ahh. Thanks for clarifying that. In that case, good idea. Don't want any legal things happening. |
max-corbetti![]() Level 11 Posts: 6 |
Yeah and most 16 year olds are smart enough to register their PMOG age as 18+ |

Exactly--I don't see online age restrictions as being particularly limiting to teenagers. |
