Hey, I've some questions:
2nd can I see Lighposts that were made by other users?
3rd Can I run into my own mines? 4th what exactly are these "St. nicks" are they good? for me the descriptions says, that if I give a person a "St. nick" the mines of this person will not harm me...is that correct? 5th the xp bar isn't updating itself in realtime...I don't know when or why it is updating itself, maybe someone could help me there (FF 3 b5) greetings

@detructor 1 & 2) Light posts are URL markers that you place on sites around the internet and then string together into missions. If you've been on a mission, you've seen light posts put up by others. The best missions seem to have some good descriptions for the sites illuminated by the light posts. 3) Yes. 4) St. Nicks prevent a player from setting a mine (they get a message), not from having one of their mines harm you. (That's what armor is for.) 5) Sometimes the XP bar takes a little time to catch up - if you look elsewhere on the forum, it has been mentioned that this is something that the development team is working on :) As always, you can get some good answers in the Codex - which is definitely more official than I am. |

How do I use St. Nicks? They're not in the toolbar. Am I missing something? |

You deploy them by going to a person's PMOG profile, where you'll find a St. Nick button up near the top. They're not on the toolbar because you can only attach them to players (i.e. you can't drop them onto random webpages, etc). Players can have a maximum of 5 St. Nicks on them at one time. |

Thanks for the help. |

but for what are they?! |

st. Nicks prevent the player they are attached to from deploying a mine. They'll get a message when they try to put a mine somewhere that says "_player_ foiled your attempt to deploy a mine" |

Maybe we should lay out an example to make it more clear? Here's the example...(first go look at your profile...right above the section that tells you your latest happenings. you will see 4 boxes. first one allows you to deploy a mine on that profile. second boxes allows you to attach a st. nick. third box allows you to leave a crate on the profile. fourth box is to send that user a message.) Onward with the example. Say I goto your profile and click the St. Nick button. Later on you are on a user's profile and you click the mine button..attempting to deploy a mine on that person's profile. What will happen is you get a message saying "bunni3burn foiled your attempt to deploy a mine".
Does that make sense? I hope. :) |

thank you bunni3burn, now I've undestand it ;) hmmm...but I have tested that with "running in my own mine" ...I can't: I've deployed a mine on a site, and later I surfed again on the site, but I don't get a message.

OK, I have another newbie question. Is it possible to see who looted your crate? |
bunni3burn![]() Level 20 Posts: 1368 |
@detructor try going to *insert site* and laying a mine..refresh the page and you should get rattled. @michelle yes you can see who looted your crate. go here http://pmog.com/events |

bunni: oh, you are right...one question to the mines again:

No, the dp lost by un-armored players who trip mines does not go to the person who deployed the mine... it gets lost into the aether! |

Could I see an example of how a Lightpost is used? (i.e. What you're supposed to fill out in each line and how you link them together, does it take multiple lightposts to make a full mission, etc.)

Take some missions before you attempt to make your own; that way you'll get an idea of what sort of things people write in the comment part of their lightposts (take some higher-rated ones, so you know what people like :) ). If you want to see a lightpost in action, take any mission. The "Generate Your Own Mission" process will walk you through the process fairly thoroughly. You need a minimum of four lightposts, by the way. But when you're making your draft, it should be pretty clear. Choose your URLs, write your commentary, and PMOG will link them together for you. |

I did, I took about 6 missions before posting my question. I just don't understand exactly how the interface works for it. And what I'm supposed to fill in where. I will look at the Generate your own mission process, thank you for that point in the right direction. |

@bunni3burn I see that you can find general information about who has looted a crate or been hit by a mine, but is there a way to see which crate specifically was looted or on which site the bomb was hit? With several set at once, I can't tell who is visiting where. Thanks! |
pixielo![]() Level 20 Posts: 3706 |
Nope, you do not know the exact location of the crate looted or the bomb exploded...but the messages you get will tell you who did it... |

I'm sure this is obvious, and I just missed it, but... How do you level? I have the DP needed to level, but I'm still lvl 1. |

http://pmog.com/codex/appendices... There's the list for level requirements. You have to earn the DP, not just find it in crates. You "earn" DP when people take missions you create, or when you visit websites you haven't been to (which is a great reason to take other people's missions!). So, even if you found a crate with 10,000 DP in it you wouldn't level up. |
