After I loot a crate, the sender's name disappears from from the crate popup. It's not auto-filled if I hit "send thank-you", so I can't thank my kind benefactor!

(sometimes I can track the person down by looking at my recent happenings, but crates don't always show up there)

I'll start writing down names before looting, but surely there's a better way :)

I haven't had that happen, I can still find the sender's name on the 'looted' pop-up after I hit the 'send a thank-you' button...
*checks it out...

I just left a crate on this page, and when I looted it, and hit the 'send a thank you,' my name was still clearly visible on the top of the crate. Hmmm...maybe a Toolbar uninstall/reinstall could fix this?
