I seem to be having a problem with my association switching around. I used to be a pathmaker. Recently, Bedouin has become my primary. I have been using armor a bit more but I've only used 3 or 4 since I've signed up. I've used quite a bit more lightposts than anything else. However, my problem seems to be with my secondary and tertiary associations. My secondary is currently seer and my tertiary is vigilante. When bedouin replaced pathmaker, shouldn't pathmaker just have been bumped down to secondary? I haven't been taking many missions lately and all of the recent missions I have taken are pathmaker or shoat. I also rarely take any portals and have never placed one. I absolutely can not understand why seer is my secondary.

I'm not entirely sure this information is useful but I'm using FF 2.0.0.14 on XP.

The associations are majorly driven by missions taken, minorly driven by tool use, and it seems to me, you also need to factor in a small imp tossing a six-sided coin. The secondary and tertiary associations are particularly strongly driven by the imp.

That's probably why I've had vigilante in my list for a fortnight now, even though I seldom use Nicks and have taken one Vig mission in that time (as compared to 2-3 Destroyers, and several Bedouin.)

I actually don't know the effect of Shoat missions, but they might act like imp-crack, making the coin-tossing wilder and more random. Try sticking to Pathmaker missions for 2-3 days, and at the end of that time, I'm betting you will be firmly Pathmaker. For every 3 Pathmakers, take one of the other two associations you'd like to be, and that should weight things in that favour. (But don't underestimate the chaos factor of that imp.)

I realize association is mostly governed by the missions taken but look at this; Out of the last 20 missions I've taken, 14 were Pathmaker, 3 were Shoat, and 3 were Bedouin.

I know that I could go take 20 more Pathmaker missions and get Pathmaker back as my primary. I just can't make sense of their calculations for determining the associations.

And that is why we are players and not the developers!
Haha!
I actually kind of enjoy the mystery--but then again, I've got the correct Associations...

It also seems to take into account only what you've done since the last association calculation.

Correct, orangerineman.

Your most recent PMOG activity dictates your Associations, not your lifetime's doings.

I wish that made my associations make a bit more sense, but it really doesn't. Maybe Pathmaker isn't on thre because I'm a complete failure at it. Nobody has even taken my most recent mission and its 11 days old.

Well...I think that a lot of more seasoned players try to avoid Pathmaker missions...
At the beginning of Pmog, there was an absolute glut of Pathmakers, and far too many PM missions were made...
I don't take them since I don't want PM classpoints...

I'm sure if you made a Bedouin mission, far more people would take it!

@mastry Also, it's possible that your mission is untakeable if nobody at all has completed it. The first lightpost doesn't show up for me in your most recent mission :/ Perhaps you were logged into the site when you deployed the lightpost? That would exclude all non-members, just like using Facebook excludes all pmoggers without Facebook accounts.

Having said that, I also normally avoid taking Pathmaker missions as a rule...

Thanks for the advice, Pixielo.

@Lapsura You're completely right. It didn't work. That is completely due to my own stupidity. Thanks for pointing it out.

It actually seems I have a different problem now. I've fixed the lightpost but now when I take my mission it only visits the first lightpost. Tried moving them around and such. I tell ya, problems are attracted to me.

Missions have been weird for a few days now...I have one draft mission that won't test out at all...

Oh well. If there were no bugs, everything would get too boring. =p

i, too, suffer from association misidentification, IMHO.

as of today, i am a seer/pathmaker/benfactor.

however, i have never created a portal [ i have used a few... seriously, only a few].
i do understand the pathmaker association, since i have created four missions as well as more than a few lightposts that, in the end, yielded errors and were not used... but i did create them.
and i have only ever set two or three crates [i have looted almost 40 of them... but that would suggest a chaotic alignment and not order, no?]

my gaming experience suggests that creation/use of items should create an association, counterbalanced by abuse of/attacks on items to create a counter-association.

i am downright befuddled by the taking of missions association me with the mission's creator's guilds. paired with the reassignment of points and levels locking me into these arbitrary associations, i am now confused and frustrated by simple game mechanics such as shopping and item use.

You aren't locked in to an Association, mine changes several times a week. Just take the missions of the Association that you'd like to be and wait three days--the cycle runs 72 hours and is not cumulative...allowing you to change it up frequently.
