My primary association just switched over to "Destroyer" even though I have never laid a mine (I swear!). Maybe I'm just a newb, but this seems strange to me. Can taking missions created by Destroyers have that much influence on my primary association? Or is this actually a bug?

Taking missions by Destroyers does in fact change your association. :)

Since we're on the topic, I have some questions about that.

My associations seem to change nearly daily. Today I'm a Bedouin. Let's say I make a (bedouin) mission. Tomorrow, I'm a Vigilante.

Is my mission now a Vigilante mission, or is it still a bedouin mission because I was a Bedouin when I created it?

If the latter, how can you tell what association goes with a mission? (If the former, you can only really tell by clicking onto the profile of the creator, right?)

Missions do not change association with their creator. If you're concerned about taking missions influencing your association, you can see missions listed by their association on the mission page.

However I'm not sure what the best way, given a mission, to figure out what kind it is.

I haven't played much at all this week because of school craziness and yet my association suddenly changed to Bedouin, something which I definitely don't feel I've done enough to be. Despite trying my best to stay a vigilante it just keeps changing. In fact, all three of my associations changed to something I had not had at all before...

Actions should way out weigh missions taken for a players association.

I have planted 50+ St. Nicks on people (using St. Nicks more then any other tool by far) and none of my 3 associations are Vigilante. On the other hand I have never given out any armor and have set off less then 20 mines and I am main Association of Bedouin.

Yes, there is indeed wackiness.

Yesterday I was a Vigilante/something/Bedouin.

Today I am a Bedouin/Seer/Benefactor, although I haven't given/used armor much in the last several days.

However, the Seer association is completely odd, as I have never set a portal, ever.

Any ideas, PMOG mods?

There is certainly something up with the associations: in the past 4 days I've gone from pathmaker/seer/vigilante to seer/destroyer/bedouin to (currently) destroyer/vigilante/benefactor. Normally this could be chalked up to taking missions, but I've taken maybe one or 2 missions in this time. I've used a few saint nicks and mines, but I've deployed one portal ever, and made one mission.
Methinks there be a glitch there captain!

My associations have changed again! I was a Vigilante/Bedouin/Benefactor yesterday, and today I am a Destroyer/Vigilante/Benefactor.

Question: Does *giving* mines shift associations? 'Cuz I did that. But other than that...I have no idea how I became a Destroyer. I've *tripped* quite a few mines, but never placed any. And as far as I know, I've only taken a few Destroyer missions, long ago, at the beginning of my career.

Missions make your Association...
I almost completely ignore my Tools use for Association calculations...I just take a few missions, that's it.
Much, much easier to keep track of...

It'd be nice if the tool usage bar had a tally of your missions taken by association.

I realized after a while that missions affect your association. So, after that point I've only been taking missions from the three associations that I wanted. Yet I notice today that my association changed to seer again without taking any missions or tool usage. So, it seems something is up.

The Seer Association does seem to show up when you go a bit more passive (or downright dormant.) While this could be odd, considering that Seers are probably the most passive of the Associations--they just deploy Portals and run off, leaving other players to come across them, perhaps this makes sense?

My Current associations are:

1th: Seer (for 1 portal)
2th: Pathmaker (for 0 lightposts?)
3th: Benefactor (Again, for 0 crates)

My conclusion: this system doesn't work and besides, if you can't buy the tool you need to change it, like mines to be a destroyer, then how Can you change it?

Take more missions of the association you want to be. And realise it can take 1-3 days for your association to change.

By taking Missions, and taking Missions only; seriously, Associations are not broken at all...Tool use really doesn't have that much of an effect at all.

Take Missions to change your Association.

pixielo, I wonder if you're right, that doing nothing for a while puts you towards seer. Because I had taken missions to get my associations how I wanted them. Unless I unwittingly did something else to change them.

@Zenmatt It is just something that I've noticed; I am all for empirical observation...every single person who has said 'I went dormant for a week, now I'm a Seer, wtf?!?!' seems to illustrate that point to me. What other class really does absolutely nothing to benefit from its Tools after they are deployed? Only Seers. Of course, I could be totally incorrect, but try reading this thread and make your own conclusions.

If you haven't taken any missions for at least 4 days (to let one 72 hour cycle pass) and are now a Seer, I do think that this is an adequate explanation. Now, with that said, I think I'm off to strike up a convo with the guy who codes this stuff. I'll let you know if I find out anything good!

Just to add to the conversation. My secondary association became Destroyer overnight and looking back through my list of taken missions NONE of them are Destroyer missions. Never laid any mines besides the very first one as a part of the tutorial when I signed up.

Thanks for the link. It's cool to see the new changes, but I'm not sure that answers the question of why I've now got Destroyer listed as my secondary association.

I've only used one mine and that was about a month ago when I joined.
