My Mac is OS 10.3.9, so I cannot upgrade to FF3. Does this mean no more PMOG for me? I can't really do much now.. can't give crates, can't update..... is it really over until I get a new computer?

Sadly the newest update will only be supported on FF3.

I'd really like to get an update if Flock 2 Beta 2 works on these older operating systems.

Anyone?

tried Flock, to no avail. I tried to download that beta version, it did not work either... but I am NOT a computer genius... sigh.

I know it's not always an option, and it is money... but if you can possibly upgrade your OS you should. Leopard is great. Don't do it just for PMOG, but there are enough other reasons to upgrade besides that. Unless you have an older computer and are concerned about performance.

we've actually been looking into a new mac anyhow, this is just the tipping point. perhaps my whining about no more PMOG will save the day and I'll have my new computer sooner rather than later. Till then, I guess I am cut off, other than typing. Posting in the forums still works, but nothing else. hmmm.

thanks all for advice and etc!

I tried upgrading to firefox 3 and didn't particularly like it, and a few of my extensions hadn't been updated yet. I guess no more PMOG for me. :[

@Moomle There are a few ways you can keep all of your extensions...one is to use Nightly Tester Tools, which can force those extensions to work; another is to simply check the extension's page...many times there are beta updates that are compatible that have not yet been uploaded to the Mozilla page...

In any case, I was extremely loathe to update...but now I'm really glad that I did...FF3 works a lot better for me!

I'll have to check again. One of the big problems was that, for some reason, whenever I tried to look at the usual file, edit, tools, etc. menus all I got was a big white screen (in the default theme) and no actual menus.

Alas, firefox 3 is utterly unusable for me. I spent several hours reskinning it, forcing all my extensions to work with nightly tester tools, and editing about:config to force the functionality to how I like it, but the autoscroll is just utterly broken now. I can't find a way to stop it centring the autoscroll icon on my mouse cursor when I middle click, instead of turning off autoscroll. As a result I keep finding the page scrolls randomly all over the place all the time because I didn't double click to turn it off. It's really annoying, unintuitive, and broken. And until I find a fix for it I'm staying on FF2. I'll see if I can find a way to force pmog compatibility for it myself.

Maybe just wait for your extensions to be updated? Many that aren't listed on their Mozilla pages (or from the add-on menu) have their sites listed on those page; just by checking with the original developer, you can see if they've been updated, but not uploaded to Mozilla.

I got a few extensions to work by doing that, not by forcing it.

Aaaaaand, I think I'm sorry that I even mentioned Nightly Tester Tools...while it's good for finagling one or two extensions, forcing a whole bunch of them to work and then mucking with the about:config is rather a recipe for disaster.

I wish you luck! But seriously, try out a new profile without all of the forcing/finagling and see how that works for you.

No, my main problem is the way the middle mouse button works. Too inconvenient for me. I don't like being forced to double click it to dismiss autoscroll. This on top of having to double click to dismiss drop down menus is too much of a killer for me.

I got just about all my extensions bar Adblock working thanks to nightly tester tools. I don't even know why it marks them as incompatible since they all work like a charm in FF3, the only one that was trouble being adblock, but the less user-friendly adblock plus is still an option there.

I like firefox because it's the only browser I can 100% edit to make do what I want (It's why I switched over from Opera back when FF first came out). When the function I probably use second most after "middle click to close tab" is altered and I can't change it back, that's a deal breaker for me.

I'm keeping an eye out for mouse functionality changing addons, and when I see one that does what I want I'll be making the switch. Not before.

Yeah...welcome to your problem!
Making one or two work is one thing...making MANY work is a recipe for disaster...

So, still...we don't know what you are running...a list of the extensions, please?

I've given in and am now trying to WRITE an extension to fix the crazy mouse behaviour FF3 has. Unfortunately this means actually learning HOW to do so, which may take a little while :P

Any tips on how to make it single-click to dismiss drop-down menus and to switch off autoscroll, instead of double click, would be MOST appreciated.

I have a tip.

Use fewer add-ons. And don't force them.
