In an act of blatant begging, I messaged "Uselessness" to grovel for some mines so that I might reestablish my Destroyer association. Uselessness extremely generously left a crate containing 10 mines on my profile; I, however, never found it nor looted it. To add to the curiosity, in my "Latest Happenings" bar, I was told that I had indeed looted Uselessness' crate. I have and had not, and there remains no change in my inventory. Again, Uselessness crated me 10 more mines. Alas-- again, no crate appears on my profile and NO change in my inventory. I would be most obliged for some help in this matter; at the very least, I wonder if the Omnipotent Programmers could re-credit Uselessness 20 mines so the gift isn't a complete waste. Many thanks! I am running Firefox 2.0.0.14 on a mac OS X. I am under the impression I have the most current toolbar installed. Thanks so much for a lovely game, Powers that Be. |

This is very strange. I haven't noticed any problems with crates on my end. Cassandra gets five points for using a Mac, but loses half a point for not upgrading to Firefox 3. I wonder if she's actually reading about a prior crate of mine that she looted, since the Latest Happenings pane is so delayed. I know I've sent several crates her direction for the Week of Order. :-) |

I looted a crate with DP from uselessness and they never appeared in my inventory. Crates from other people seem to work normal. Is this just a coincidence or perhaps a problem only for crates from uselessness? |

Say what now? My crates are broke? I've been leaving hundreds of crates this week, I hope they're not doing that a lot! |

I've been getting your crates just fine, Uselessness. That was what inspired me to give you that big one! |

I got very kind test crates from mcraxes and salmon tickler and magically 20 mines (I can only assume they're from uselessness) appeared in addition to the 5 that mcraxes and salmon tickler sent. I've yet to see or loot a uselessness crate sent in conjunction with my begging. I've got no idea what's going on-- uselessness tells me that he's got 3 messages that I looted crates; he only stashed two. I did, in the past, successfully receive his generous "Week of Order" gift. I have nothing on my profile from tekkguy, and am in the process of responding to him to that effect. |

Sorry, my problem-crate was from celes, not from uselessness (you sent me crates - not DP, right?) |

Dude, I've sent out so many crates today I have no idea. I should maybe keep better records? ;-) |

@tekkguy I'm so sorry-- I never actually "looted" it nor saw it. It seems as though that crate contents are "added" to my inventory from "unsuccessful" crates once I loot a crate that successfully arrives. @tekkguy I haven't used those mines, yet- may I gift them (or something else you might prefer?) back to you? |

Hey I use a Mac and when I upgraded to FF 3 I suddenly had a problem where I couldn't loot crates so I went back to FF 2 and my looting problem went away. |
uselessness![]() Level 14 Posts: 735 |
Hmm... probably not related to Cassandra's problem, but what version of OS X are you running? |

Go ahead and message me in the future regarding these kinds of issues. I will gladly reimburse you, and it will also help me figure out what to report to the developers so we can get some fixes in for this strange bug. |

@ uselessness 10.5.3, waiting a few more days to see if others have problems before I update my main machines to 10.5.4 and I have many, many years of Mac experience ( Proud to say I've never used a Windows machine :) ) |

@haysurfer Wow, same here... I've installed the update but haven't rebooted yet (waiting for the end of the week). I've been a Mac user since 1988! But I also use Windows and Linux every now and then, because hey, you don't know how good you have it until you've danced with the devil, right? ;-) |

I've been an Apple user since before the Mac. The IIe was my first computer. My first Mac was the SE30. I remember when System 7 was a big deal and to upgrade to system 7 you needed a bunch of floppies :) I have my G3 beige set up to duel boot to Linux but I rarely use that computer but at least I can say I've played with Linux a little bit :) |

Haha, wow, you've got me beat. My first Mac was a Macintosh II. Since then I've had an SE, an LC III, a Performa 475, a Power Mac 7200, a Yosemite G3 tower, a 2nd-gen iMac (lime), a PowerBook G4, a Mac Mini, and now a Santa Rosa MacBook. Holy crap, that's a lot of computers! I must be nuts! Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled thread. :-P |
