Is there a time limit on mines? I placed several out on popular sites with no results listed in my feed and the mines are no longer on the pages. For 100dp I would hope to get some result. If all these mines were canceled by St. Nicks & Armor it would be nice to get some result message.

Also does anyone know the DP reward for successfully using a mine against someone? If they cost 100dp and can be canceled out by 2 effects (armor and st. nicks) there should be a reward of at least 100dp for a successful hit other wise it is just a risk and a game sink to use them.

The St. Nicks do not prevent mine damage; they prevent a player from deploying a mine in the first place.

And no--there is currently no personal notification system for when someone trips a mine.
You do not gain points for mining someone--there is no reward for setting mines.
The is a 'passive' game, if you want to watch yourself blow someone up, I suggest a more active game.

Really? The tip at the bottom of my pmog page tends to differ.

"DID YOU KNOW?

Mines are surreptitious surprises that reward you with points for stealthy placement. Sneaky! "

Maybe you need to find another game to act like a passive aggressive troll or do you get points for that in these forums?

Some people seem to be being overly-zealous about the whole "passive gameplay" thing. I would recommend that they play Progress Quest.

I think that the idea of it being a "Passive Game" is that you level up even when not trying to, but you also have a certain level of interaction when you wish to. Otherwise, there's no point and no need to play.

It does seem like a bit of a waste if there's no reward for a successful hit when, as already stated, there are two ways to cancel the effect. The Chaos associations seem like they should have some form of selfish reward, and this is mostly accomplished -- Seers can get some laughs with joke portals, Vigilantes mess with Destroyers, and Destroyers...don't really have much considering the high chance of a mine being disrupted (especially if they lay a lot, bringing in a barrage of St. Nicks) and the high price of mines.

I agree totally, what is the point of laying a mine if there is zero reward for it, or even no feed back on if anybody got hit by one

Wow! Such hostility!
I am very glad that everyone reads the tips on the pages; now please try and enjoy passive gaming.
You do 'gain credit' towards an association with Destroyers; perhaps that is what you will turn into should you place many mines.
There are no trolls here, just happy Passivists!
Perhaps I'll find out now how many points one gets for laying a mine.

Destroyers get the satisfaction of depriving some innocent of their precious DP. That's as far as I've figured out.

Ah Progress Quest. I played it for a while when it was new but just didn't have the ambition to keep going with it.
