forkbomber Level 10 Destroyer Posts: 12	...it's not really a bug, but it's plain wrong... just look at the Normandy badge... for your information, Normandy is in France... since when are there palm trees at the French coast? seriously, there are no palm trees, so why are they on the badge? in stead of painting the real normandy as it was, with landers, mines and iron obstacles? that's what it stands for, right?... by forkbomber 5 months ago \| Permalink

shyiskhar Steward Level 19 Destroyer Posts: 2112	Actually, those palm trees were an early delivery. My grandfather was at normandy, so I know things. See, here's the story. The french government, (Before the invasion) were pissed. They were too busy to go on vacation, but they were over worked and needed a break. Well, They put there heads together, And thought hard of what they could do. It occured that if they couldn't go to foreign beaches, they could bring foreign beaches to them. Thus they ordered a shipment of plastic trees from England (Chief exporter of badly made plastic crap at the time). The sad fact is though, The invasion happened within a few days. Luckily the shipment wasn't due until after the war was over. The French worried about it a little, but you know.. worse things were happening so they didn't worry too much. An idiot over in England though, misread the papers and sent the plastic plants out early. Half way across the ship carrying them was torpedoed. The plastic plants sunk, but then floated up to the surface and across, finally washing up on to the beaches of normandy. Just before that picture was taken. by shyiskhar 5 months ago \| Permalink
