So, I've noticed that when more than one person has set up a portal on the same page, you can't see all of the portals at once--you must go through the first portal before you even know the others are there! Would it be possible to see all portals at once, kind of like you can see all crates at once, so you can choose which to enter?

Yeah I wondered about that ... I put a portal up on penny-arcade.com (theres always one there, and now I know this, probably others) and never saw hide nor hair of it. What about a few portals randomly each time? Because I can see popular sites suddenly overloading you with portals ... when we have a huge population.
