I'm very confused about how the associations are assigned. When I first started playing, I laid a mine, stashed some crates, portals, and lightposts. Now that I'm into the game, I've found I love creating missions and stashing crates; however, it appears that handful of portals I posted at first just keep racking up hits. I've set up dozens of lightposts and crates, but that handful of portals is what's establishing my association as a Seer. I suspect that those portals stay out there, and every time someone takes one, I get a portal hit, but crates and lightposts don't work the same. So my handful of portals make me a Seer, but all my hard work posting lightposts and crates don't carry the same weight? Am I misunderstanding this? Is there something else at work here? Thanks for any input, ideonexus |

Your association is determined by tool usage and mission taking, and mission taking is the primary force behind it. How does taking a mission change your association you ask? It matters on what association the mission is under. This is decided by what association the creator had when they created that mission. Take a mission made by a Benefactor, and it pushes you towards Benefactor. Take a mission made by a Bedouin, and it pushes you towards Bedouin. That's the easiest way to change yourself. Also, all of this only matters in terms of the last 72 hours. Whatever you did within the last 72 hours is what determines your association. Lastly, don't worry too much, they're fairly fluid. If you want to be a Benefactor, take Benefactor missions and lay crates and you'll be there within a couple days. |

Thanks! I read that missions counted, but I had thought it was mostly tool use. I appreciate the clarification. |
