At the moment I'm stuck with an XUL overlay that won't go away. How I got here: I received a PMail and clicked "reply." Then I typed a message and hit "send." I got the disco dancefloor loading animation, and after a while it became obvious that it had hung. My response never finished sending, and the buttons in the overlay ("cancel" and "send") are both unresponsive. I can't make the overlay go away. Is there a way to make a dedicated close button in the top corner of every overlay that will make it go away, no matter what? Like a way to force quit a hanging application. Right now, there's no way to dismiss a crashed XUL overlay except to quit and relaunch Firefox. Not exactly the best solution, I think. ;-) |

Is that even possible? I mean...if the embedded 'Cancel' button isn't working, why would another embedded 'Kill' button work...it seems like the XUL just isn't taking orders... I'll put it in for checking out... Edit: Apparently, this is possible, and has already been discussed amongst the Code Ninjas, but I put it in anyway...

I've run into this too. The message overlay stayed on the screen. I minimized FF and it still showed up over the desktop. I'll carefully document the behavior if it happens again. |

Apparently this happens when the 'close' button talks to the server, and if the server hiccups, you are left with an uncloseable window... But Czarchon, what you are talking about is something else entirely...but that's also in for a fix.

You're not alone, Uselessness; I had this too. I just chalked it up to teething problems and decided to ride it out...lol I feel like a parent (more accurately an uncle, I suppose) |

would a refresh of the toolbar not sort you out? It worked for me, "P - Help - Refresh toolbar. - Yay" |

Maybe, but should it be happening anyway? |

It didn't work for me when I experienced the same issue Salmon. The only thing that worked was closing out of FF completely and restarting it. |

I've got a new variant on this problem: I'm trying to put together a new mission (http://pmog.com/missions/this_mo... but when I get to my second link, there's no text in the box and when I try to advance, it comes up with the 'something went wrong, sorry' message.

I got the same problem with an older mission. I tried a new lamppost linking to the same domain but without the WWW in front, and the problem still happens. The only thing I can think of is that there are HTML links in the lamppost description, but there are links in my other missions and they seem to work fine. |
