Hey everyone, it's a Sera. Got a great new feature to show you guys that's been (semi) hiding under your noses for a while. Some of you have already met the intricate speech of Ninefinder, the generous donations of Thomas Hoggins, and the threats and mines of Bloody Tuesday. If you have, then you've just collided with our newest feature - live characters. The new characters of PMOG will be the driving force of all of the new PMOGeon lore that will be appearing in the codex, on the PMOG News site, and perhaps in places you may not even imagine. These are accounts that look like your fellow players, but are tagged with the title "Character" (coming soon) and are flaunting artwork done by Colin Adams. These characters will act just like any other player in the game. They'll make friends and rivals, mine or crate your profile, talk to you through messages and forum posts, and perhaps even go further. You never know what they'll do to contact you! But what they will do is introduce an ever-evolving plotline to the game. That plotline will not only affect the game world, but it will also hint at future releases and upcoming content. So talk with the characters, enjoy them! More information about who they are will be available Wednesday, but until then... see if you can find all 6 of them. I gave away 3, but there's still 3 more. Perhaps the Codex's Histories might shed some light? |

Nah. I thought itheman admitted to being the prophet. Maybe not. Im really excited about this! I just cant figure out what association the professor esper is. |
glennza![]() Level 20 Posts: 225 |
The professor is on the side of Order without a doubt since he has already rivalled against, Sasha who is without any question a Seer.
As for his association, I would go strongly with Pathmaker! ;) 8-) |

He did, itheman was the Prophet I dunno how to feel about this, on one side I'd always hoped the community would polarize more into sides. This will definitely help that along. A good villain/leader makes people line up in support or in defiance, which is what's needed. It's been happening slowly, and even though I find the "Election" stuff to be taken a tad bit too seriously, I hoped it would begin to split us up a bit more, draw a line in the sand if it were. The main reason this hasn't occurred is that the sides couldn't really do anything to each other thanks to the passiveness of the game. (I remember back in the day so many suggestions being shot down because it'd be too "active") Meanwhile, putting this into the hands of, to be blunt, the devs, it allows these characters to actually do things which we couldn't, as well as allowing an outlet for news. The problem now is that it's taking away control from the community itself. While I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing yet, it's leaves me very confused to say the least. Is PMOG leaving behind the "passiveness"? If so, is this a bad thing? As for the first part, it'd be hard to claim that adding story would not be a step towards a more active and engaging community. As for the second, I don't see this as a problem whatsoever, as most of the time I've felt my hands tied by just how passive the game was (not to mention the contradiction of having a "passive game"). So, in summary, I think that the characters are ok, I'm only sad that the community never polarized on it's own. |

Ugh, this is driving me mad now...
There, i believe those are the associations for each character. |

@zous agreed, however it was clear at the weeks of chaos and order that there were too many omnitoolians to really split down the middle. and even with the elections, it's difficult - bunni3 has Chaos folks in her cabinet and I have Order folks in mine. |

I see no problem since pmoggers seem to have a habit of creating multiple identities. We'll still find a way to keep that kind of fun alive. |

/me feels bad about being an omnitoolian |
|
gbelste Level 16 Posts: 338 |
Maybe the new characters ans the story line will draw people to one tool. I was once an omnitoolian, but then I read the Histories and the lore, and now I'm Vigilante and Pathmaker. Victoria Ash is an interesting character, so I will probably become more of a Vigilante as the story goes on. Bloody Tuesday repulses me :D and so I will probably not become a Destroyer. Perhaps something as simple as Hoggins' outfit will draw somebody to be a benefactor (*cough*Chetyre*cough*). |
zous![]() Level 20 Posts: 1036 |
There's a difference between being an omnitoolian and having a certain tool at heart. I don't think anyone planned on using only one tool the whole time. I consider myself a Benefactor, but I still don't mind mining people if needed ;) |
glennza![]() Level 20 Posts: 225 |
What is interesting is 5 of the characters have humongous sums of DPs and a lot of one certain tool. Poor old Professor has neither. |

chetyre Steward ![]() Level 20 Posts: 1265 |
It's true. I like using crates and Hoggin's spiffy outfit just reinforces that my primary association is a benefactor. Please note that most everyone is an omnitoolian, but I think we can all identify ourselves most with one or two associations. |

Yes, i was the prophet. I think this could be a really good idea and i can't wait to see how it turns out. |

I'm betting the Bedouin character hasn't been set up yet - the prof is simply that; a professor with lots of knowledge (and is therefore Joe in disguise) Hmmm. Does this mean we'll be seeing less of the real people behind Gamelayers? It's been nice and fun interacting with them as real people. The new characters look cool, but they are only characters, when all is said and done.

I'm looking forward to see how things evolves. New characters are pretty cool. |
bunni3burn![]() Level 20 Posts: 1370 |
If you look at each players allies and rivals. Each one has 3 rivals. It's obvious which 3 are Order and which 3 are Chaos. Ninefinder is obviously the Pathmaker, and Hoggins is obviously the Benefactor. Which leaves the Professor as the Bedouin. Man why do the Bedouins get the old man as their front man? Lol. P.s. I definitely side with specific tools. Armor obviously, then with a side of Benefactor. The rest of the tools, meh. Far from a player who uses all tools. |

I still say he makes no sense for that role. But then again, I could be prejudicing against age there. |

Yeah, especially with his quote he doesn't really seem like a bedouin. Why would an old professor be out blowing up mines? Seer seems much more his style. |
