So you joined PMOG and are proud of it. What you do next? How do you show it? There is a simple way of showing this by means of a userbar. What is a userbar?
Userbars are smallish 350x20 bars that many forum community, email and social network users attach to their signature, comments or website to express their personality and interests, like games. Here are 2 examples that I did, 1 static and 1 animated:
Hope you like these and would like to see this thread filled with your own userbars! |

@nieman why? |
nieman![]() Level 20 Posts: 1213 |
LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME *edit to add:* (because I associate "forum sigs" aka "userbars" with cheesy lame tween game forums and silly CS, WoW, etc... they add NOTHING to the post, they just add clashy trash that often conflicts with the site's graphical intent, and end up causing a severe EYE FUCK for people TRYING to READ) |

With bad userbars or sign graphics I agree with you, but still they're a good way to promote PMOG no? |

I think autoearn is not talking about using these for sigs on our forums. We all know we PMOG. Rather, putting them elsewhere that we might be participating in forums on Teh Interwebs. Yes? In that case, awesome. |

Seriously. Take a deep breath! Hah. It looks like he was suggesting we use these on OTHER peoples forums. In which case it serves as an ad for PMOG. This can only be a good thing. And if those forums already have sig's then adding one more (Especially ones as awesome as the above) Can't hurt, Right? Also, ending this sentence with a comma, |

Lol, to be fair, even though I like the art/action of them, I am not a big fan either, I just dont bother with signatures on any other forums. |

I think advertising PMOG on other websites (forums) is a great idea! I'm also looking forward to adding future little buttons and banners to websites that direct new players back to the PMOG website. (after beta, of course) |

WHAT! Beta's the best time to join a community! It makes life entertaining and dangerous! Who doesn't want to live on the EDGE!??, |

I think if you're proud of what we have going here, and you're active on another forum, and would like to get more great people in our community here, one of these userbars would be a simple and likely effective way to drive players to our game. Of course, you can still be very proud of PMOG and not use one of these or promote PMOG to the outside world, and that's okay, too. Thanks @autoearn for creating these. |

@autoearn, I'm not trying to steal your thunder, just thought I'd copy your great idea and put up a parallel thread for buttons and banners to be used on websites... http://pmog.com/forums/social-to... (Shyiskhar made me do it! ;) |
nieman![]() Level 20 Posts: 1213 |
I -love- Babeball. Also, if I like something, sorry, but I tend not to reply. Unless it's to add something constructive. I also do not like posts that contain anything other than "OMG I AGREE WITH THIS POSTED" but there are rare cases where my joy for the post overcomes my normal behavior. |

@mattod: yes, and your point is...? |
|
autoearn Level 19 Posts: 98 |
@czarchron no problem at all! The main idea was to generate ways to promote PMOG more, being a userbar, button, banner whatever ;) I'm sure that if we had a unique personal link, players would actively promote PMOG with banners etc., but like as it is right now they only see it as loosing the 200 dps... |

Personally, I see the userbars as a bigger problem with the advertising, marketing and television reshaping our society. During the days when our world was a print culture, thanks to Gutenberg, we were literate and entertained by the clever use of language. Now, in the age of television, we are merely fish, entertained by shiny objects, pretty pictures and gadgets. The userbar, no matter how it is used, is simply the concept of branding. In the next decade, I half expect preschools and elementary schools to be teaching small children how to brand themselves instead of how to tie a shoe. "I'm too busy to potty train my child! I have to make sure to update his myspace page with what kind of diapers he likes and filling his ipod with songs the iTunes genius suggested." HOOOORAY MARKETING! </rant> |
