It might be fun to set up a Skype interview with the designers and/or developers.

Players phone in their favorite recipes or uses for bacon. (Obviously, not a main one-time feature, but as a fun ongoing segment or interstitial.) Of course, giving equal time to *looks around dubiously* those that prefer fake'n'bacon to the real thing.

I'm not sure if a podcast is the right forum, but maybe some talk about the economies of DP? You earn 2 from visiting new domains, lose 10(?) from mines, spend 25 on armor to protect yourself from mines, but what are good combinations? What do the mine-layers get out of it? Is it better to hit lots of sites for 2 each or scalp prices on a specialized item to a player class that can no longer purchase?

Perhaps some steampunk tie-in? News, interesting sites, etc.

I'm running out of ideas. Somebody else, please take over...

It would indeed be absolutely awesome to get some air time with the game developers / trustees / main pmogenitors.

You could go over any amount of content with them such as current-event-type items like a re-cap the Make Faire festivities, etc.

Maybe they would be willing to release some of the latest updates via the podcast, give a preview of the developments-in-progress or even answer some of the questions from the "Misadventure" forums...

I would totally love to get an interview with those trustee people. I have, like, so many questions that I need answered. Especially for that Merci Victoria Grace woman. She's like, totally mysterious.

My question ---> why are there so many bugs in the game? XD.
eg. 1. un-updating of the items used.
2. users constantly switching.
3. Missions do not work when being tested.
4. Missions cannot be accomplished.

@pencil: That'd be why it's still in Alpha testing.

@salmontickler: There's swag? COOL.

@PMOG: Why "passive"? Setting mines and stashing crates seems kind of active to me. Is there another name for the game in the works? Do you have target dates for Beta release and General Release? Has the game turned out the way you expected in play test? Any big changes in the works?

@Cavalaxis Pmog is not in Alpha testing--it's in Beta testing...the fact that you got an Alpha badge by mistake is still kind of funny...

Nope, I don't think that there is any more swag...unless you go and pick it up in Oakland.
=(

Once again...we're in Beta...

Our users are the reason we're allowed to build and play a game all day... and get paid for it. We love all of you!

There are bugs because, as Pixielo pointed out, we are in Beta. We are working on it, though!

It's passive because you can definitely just turn on the extension and play without ever laying a single tool. You may not level up, but you'll earn points and come across neat new stuff on the web all by just browsing the Internet. Like we were telling people at Maker Faire - all of us at GameLayers love surfing the Internet... and we also think we should get points for it. I'm not going out of my way to play PMOG, I'm playing it just by living out my normal day online.

Can't talk about target dates or any changes we may or may not be making. Well, I could, but then I'd have to chew the cyanide tablet each one of us has embedded in our inner cheek... I will say, though, that the way in which people are using and playing PMOG consistently manages to surprise us. :)

I've got some questions.
If I might repeat a question I hear often; Why the steampunk style? How/by whom was it decided that PMOG and this Victorian mode were complimentary? I love it, but I'm just curious.

Are there plans to bring back some of the features I've heard about from the Alpha, that use some of our surfing data as a way to shape our user profiles and show how we spend our time online? Why are they missing from the Beta?

Or is this why we have badges? It seems as though badges have become more of a way to encourage people, through their pursuit, to visit sites regularly which they otherwise might not. Was this the original intention?

my questions:

Where do you draw the boundaries for game design? Like making it more social: Is PMOG tempted to build a live in-game chat? Or do you just content yourselves with the fact that there are plenty of other chat clients out there; and just let players gather on their favorites?

Any new ideas in the works to make the game more fun?

Any plans to add more active choices to the game (tools, actions, items)? How far can you/would you go before you step over the Passive boundary?

Tell us about your inspiration for the game!
