Created a few missions now and really enjoyed it - especially watching the number of players who have taken them grow, then taking those players missions in return.

The average rating for my missions is 3 stars - something I'm happy with, but I'm always looking to improve on them and reach that perfect 5 star rating.

In the end, the higher the rating my missions get, the more they entertain/engage/inform other PMOG players!

What's your average mission rating? Your highest mission rating?

What tips have you got for adding those stars up?

I had one mission that only got three stars, (and it was indeed mediocre so I had expected as much) The other three missions I have done have four stars.
It's hard to keep it at five stars. If even one person puts four stars it's down to four stars (at least I'm relatively sure of that) Four stars tends to be a wonderful rating, and if you look on the top rated missions you'll see very few five star missions, and those will have been created not too long from when you check.

Yes, I've never seen a 5 star at all and I've been around longer than most (though not all of course).
Four is more than enough to get mission of the day, too, which brings in a couple hundred takers (and is awesome). Anyway... make sure you don't link to wiki or PMOG pages. Find an interesting topic and be informative while being concise. Find some entertaining pages to mix in with the informative ones to keep it light! Stick to what you know-- the missions I make about things I like and know about, and have resources for it (fencing, Flight of the Conchords) do very well compared to ones where I just google things. Also, even if it's a well put together mission, if it's not an interesting topic then it won't take. My example: My Marc Summers mission. Finally, watch what association you are when you make it. It's a complicated interaction but it will affect how many and what kinds of players will take your missions.

There are a few five-starred ones in the Pathmaker's assoc but these are some kind of hunt-for-links or multiple choice missions that cannot be completed anymore. They have only been run a few times so the first few players rated them 5 and then no-one else could do them anymore.

But yes, getting a 5-star mission is nigh impossible which is why it would be nice (for the author) to be able to see the exact rating.

Thanks for the tips. I guess getting 3 stars isn't that bad - only one star to go!

The best missions do seem to be the ones that are very specific.

A breakdown of the ratings would be really good, but guess the PMOG guys are working on it.

This one is even more extreme. 33 stars?? http://pmog.com/missions/italian...

One of my missions was 5-star for quite a long time, but recently went down to 4 stars. I was disappointed, because it had been 5 stars for at least a month but then (like patch615 said) a single vote will lower it irrevocably. But four of my missions are 4-star, and I did put a lot of work into them, plus they're on subjects that I'm personally very into.

My 3-star mission is pretty crappy, in my opinion.

Most of mine are 3 and 4 starred. One was marked 5 stars (Tora! Tora! Tora!) ~ at least earlier today, it was ~ which surprised me because for the longest time, no one took it. Finally, I changed the name of it and I was open for business. :D Weird though, because it is certainly not my best executed mission.

I made a series of missions about pimping stuff (cakes, cupcakes and offices). The responses are awesome, all missions are 4 stars. I think I'll keep on the 'pimp your ...'-tour, because people seem to like it. They are funny and a bit informative missions.

I also made a somewhat comical mission, but that one was not as successful (although I like it a lot).

I'm sometimes baffled at the stars I get, though, because I'll have a lot of glowing comments and a 3-star rating. (The ones that baffled me the most seem to have creept to 4 now, though.)

I've never gotten mission of the day, though. I must not have sparkled enough yet ;)

I know that my favorite online activity is watching funny videos, so I made a mission of one of my favorites Brad Neely.
I'd strongly suggest it to anyone who is looking for some amusing videos.

I think it's a nice mission because few people really know the breadth of his work. I went months without seeing his comics or watching his humorous narration of harry potter and the sorcerer's stone.
