I'm planning to get the Snowglobe badge
what sites should I choose?
I already have the Indie badge but I will avoid Google in that week because a search engine doesn't really make sense when you are only allowed to visit 10 pages ;)

1. PMOG.com of course ;)
2. kongregate.com (to play games when I'm bored)
3. youtube.com (to watch videos when I'm bored)
4. wikipedia.org (if I need to research something in that week)
5. dict.leo.org (if I need a translation)

any other ideas which sites I could visit ^^
most time I just surf around - I think that are the only sites I visit frequently
what are the most important sites for you?

You're going to torture yourself... but, if you do end up with the Snowglobe badge, I'll give you 5,000 DP.

wow thanks for the motivation :)
and YES it IS annoying (and I haven't even started yet...)
but I want to reduce internet usage anyways ;)

but one question:
does "less than 10" mean that I also get it when I visit exactly 10? or may I only visit 9?

You could cheat and use a browser that doesn't have the pmog plugin. haha.

I dunno, I've been on trips where I could come close to the snowglobe requirements. Once a day on the hotel wireless, I check email and not much else. Those tend to me more like 5 days than 7, though, and the first day I get home, I'd break it catching up on everything else...

Can we get some clear guidelines for the snowglobe badge? Is it 24 hours a day, seven days straight, or something more reasonable, like eight hours a day? And is it 10 sites in a week? I emailed for some advice and Burdenday mentioned that I had "periods of too much PMOG activity." So...that means visiting pmog more than once a day counts as multiple visits?

And while I'm making these requests for information, how many people actually have the snowglobe badge? I'd love to know.

I have it! Do I get the DP? (JK!)

I also didn't cheat. I was busy in a conference for seven days and only used two or three websites for over a week. I was far to busy dealing with the data to take time to play PMOG.

You -can- do it. You just have to be swamped with work *sighs*
Oddly enough I really didn't try and get it, work forced me to get it.

Haha

@starryice: Did you turn off your computer, or did you leave it on the whole time?

@Squish On for a week straight.

I really was not trying to get this badge, or I would have taken more notes on how I did it. What I remember is the following.

1. Stayed to only 2-3 websites (it might have been 4, but way under 10)
2. Computer was on for basically a week straight.
3. Only had a few browser restarts, but it was instantly reopened.
4. Only about 4-6 hours of inactivity per day, which is about the amount of sleep I got in that time.

Not very exciting, but hey... when is work exciting?

I'm counting on my upcoming vacation to provide me with the perfect opportunity to nab the Snowglobe badge.

Being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but dialup should do the trick!

@dawnzzle Except that you have to be online 24 hours a day? (I think.) Unless of course, you don't use that that landline for phone calls...

I thought you just had to log on during each of the days...
...duration irrelevant?

@nieman Unverified by the powers that be, but I tried that one week and it didn't work. I might've visited too many pmog pages (also unverified) when I logged in, but I still don't think it's possible. See the other snowglobe thread here (Snowglobe Badge Strategy (Straturgy?).

As long as they are on the same Top Level Domain, all should be well...
