it seems as though i lay mines, then forget about them. i don't get a notification if it's tripped, and if i did, how many dp do i get out of it? I need some basic training on the benefits of the torch of chaos

You don't get any dp. But, if someone trips a mine and they're not wearing armor, they will lose 10 dp - I'm not sure where it goes, maybe into the pmogean aether. Not to the mine-layer, at any rate :/

But people can foil your mines with armor, so that they don't actually do any damage anyway. You won't get notification, but you can see who tripped/foiled your mines on the events page.

Personally (as a Bedouin), I watch the Events page especially for mines, and I go seeking them out in order to foil them with my armor. Clearing out webpages so others don't have to deal with mines. I probably go through dozens of armors in a single day, and I love it. What would a game be without a little tension between players, anyway? :)

Also: I deployed about 100 mines on the profile of a one-time rival, and drove him to bankruptcy for a while. It was an excellent personal triumph!

lol lapsura. That sounds like fun. I think it's silly, though, that you can put as many mines as you want on a person, but there's a limit to St. Nicks. Hmm...

it is odd in a fairness sense, but as far as mechanics go it makes sense. Mines are on the page they don't need to move around, they only stay on the page, but St Nicks are on the person, whichever page the go to will still be affected by the st. nick.
so it makes sense that only five could fit on ones person where as many many mines could fit on a page.

Just because we haven't seen all the benefits yet, does not mean that they don't exist somewhere in the Pmog universe...
