Greetings fellow PMOGeans.

I know that there are many of you who dream big, bigger than your wallets. Have you a task which requires funding that seems insurmountable? Does a website (or person) need a good mining that you just can't afford? Are you starting a rewards based mission but are just plain broke? Apply today for a scholarship!

Simply contact me with 1) The task you wish to undertake, 2) Why you feel it is worthy of a scholarship, and 3) How much DP you require. Scholarships will be rewarded completely on my whims, but a few tips: be creative, be specific, and proofread. No request is too big or too small to be considered. This is not a loan, the DP is yours when you get it, but I do expect you to use the DP in the manner you specify.

Thank you for your time, I look forward to your requests.

Hello skawesome,

I would like to mine my College rivals home page and Wikipedia article! I would prefer to mine them with 200 on their main page and 100 on the wiki article, but I'm willing to accept just about any contribution to the cause. This would require 12,000DP and I know this is a lot but I personally believe it is absolutely worth it.

I would like to heavily mine my Roleplaying friends that have Deviantart accounts. I plan on placing the mines on their DA account pages. Though I am unsure of how many I should put on their pages.

I am interested in setting up a series of guided lectures on martial arts and self-defense, focusing on teaching a set of basic principles and techniques to people who are new to the hobby and would like some quick pointers and suggestions for further study. To this end I will require a large number of lightposts and portals with which to make a network of missions. My first mission of this sort can be found on my profile; it is an early attempt, but gives a fair idea of my style (though I will be more concise in the future, I swear).

I would like some more dp so I can buy more lightposts for missions. Any amount would be appreciated and you can even just throw me some lightposts instead to be sure that I don't spend it on booze.

I am interested in helping the poor destroyer community by buying mines with DP and then giving destroyers mines so they can bomb to contentment. For this task I will need DP to buy mines and crates. Thank you for your time.

To: The Honorable Skawsome, Benefactor Extrordinaire
From: Lady Tara Star, Benefactrix-in-Training
Re: DP Scholarship for the Purpose of Promoting and Enhancing the Noble Association of Benefactor

Dear Noble Skawsome,

I am writing to apply for the Datapoint Scholarship as described in your most generous offer. Per your request, I have completed a full application which I hope will convince you of the importance and worthiness of my project.

1) The task I wish to undertake:

Under your esteemed patronage, I wish to sponsor a Forum Games contest for Best Brilliant Benefactor Mission. All PMOGean citizens will be invited to enter Missions for consideration, as long as they meet the following criteria:
1. Mission must be Benefactor – current Association of the player is not important.
2. All Lightposts must be unique TLDs, to ensure maximum Datapointage.
3. Absolutely no MiniCity links allowed; anyone adding a MiniCity to the Mission will be referred to Drudge’s Mining Service for appropriate remedy.

The contest will last 12 days. This will give players of the less-charitable ranks enough time to become Benefactors and develop a qualifying Mission. The exact manner of judging has yet to be determined. I hope to develop some kind of invitation-only poll and convene a panel of expert judges. However, it is possible that I may decide to abide by the longstanding Forum Games custom and award prizes via dictatorial fiat. Of course, I am open to your sage advice on this matter.

Every three days, I will create a Meta-Mission which will compile the last three days of qualifying contest entries. This will facilitate those wishing to become Benefactors by making the Missions more easily accessible, while also helping to generate publicity. After the judging is complete, a Winners Meta-Mission will be created for the top entries.

2) Why I feel it is worthy of a scholarship:

I love being a Benefactrix. Ever since I first took the PMOG tour, I knew it was the Association for me. I like to mix-up my lower two Associations, but I endeavor to keep Benefactor on top if I can. Sadly, I am finding this more and more difficult. One trip to the Latest Missions page will clearly show the dearth of Benefactor Missions as compared to other Associations, particularly Seer. As other Forum posters have noted, PMOG seems to be in a Self-Perpetuating Seer Cycle right now – lots of good Seer Missions means lots of players taking them and becoming Seers, who then make more Seer Missions.

I would like to see if we can break that cycle. First and foremost, I am interested in promoting the Benefactor cause, but I am also just interested to see if a PMOG Forum contest has the potential to break the Seer Cycle and perhaps even start a Benefactor Cycle. Right now, many of the Benefactor missions just aren’t of the highest quality. I often find myself regretfully ignoring non-Benefactor Missions that actually look quite juicy, and instead opting for missions that turn out to be one boring click after the next. Rather than whine and complain to the game developers that I don’t like the Association algorithm, I want to see if I can use the interactive elements of PMOG to actually do something about it. But, I will need the help of a wise and munificent sponsor to make it happen.

3) How much DP you require.

In order to make the contest alluring enough to attract a strong talent pool, I would like to offer a total of 10,000DP of prizes, as follows:
First prize: 5000DP
Second prize: 2000DP
Honorable Mentions: Three prizes at 1000DP each

In addition, I would like advertise the contest using Portals in relevant places, and I will need to buy Lightposts to make the Meta-Missions. I estimate my publicity expenses to run approximately 2000DP. Therefore, I request a total of 12,000DP to make my vision a reality.

Thank you for considering my application for scholarship. I sincerely appreciate this opportunity.

Thanks for the lightposts, salmontickler - I have posted the random mission, but I will go back and edit it to add more sites soon.
