Web-based e-mail is everywhere, but some of us on the intertubes need old-school, tangible e-mail that can be manipulated through a desktop application (Outlook, Eudora, whatever). Plus, if nothing else, it's good to have your stash of mail accessible when you're offline. Today, I've started carrying all my personal mail in a client that lives on a keychain flash drive. I can view it on any Windows PC, and I can receive/send mail from any PC with net access. Following I'll show you how and then give bunch of free options for e-mail providers that allow you to sync with a desktop (or flash drive) application. NOTE: One or two links has lots of ad banners. If the lightpost doesn't load after a few seconds, just hit Firefox's Stop button and it'll pop up.
